Homeless Welfare 2026 Winter: Student Joins Rotary Project
In Winter 2026, KCIS student Lai He-Zhe joined the Rotary Club to lead a homeless welfare initiative, turning research into real social impact.
To put into practice the core values of “serving others and benefiting society,” and to respond to the long-overlooked issue of homelessness in urban areas, the Taipei Rising Age Rotary Club recently partnered with the Homeless Taiwan Association (Mangcao Heart Association) to launch a social welfare initiative centered on tangible improvements to the living conditions of people experiencing homelessness. Through multiple approaches—including the provision of essential supplies, upgrades to public shower facilities, and the integration of social work resources—the project aims to build a support system that is both dignified and sustainable.
Lai He-Zhe, a Grade 11 student at Kang Chiao International School in Taipei, was invited to take part in this Rotary Club service initiative after previously conducting in-depth research on the Mangcao Heart Association’s service model and the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness for his school-based “CyberFair” project. Having also created a public service promotional website, Lai became an important catalyst for this cross-generational collaboration.
